Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of "CrestonRodRun.com"?
It used to be just a testosterone thing, you know - men bragging about their toys. But now the ladies are coming out in force too (look for the pair of Trans Ams with "Outlaw" on the plates!)
Oh yeah, the guys at Goodyear need to know who to solicit next for new tires.
Can I print the pictures that are on the website?
Technically, you probably can. However, the images are specifically for the web and will not print very well.
If you are interested in any of the photos, please let me know and I can arrange for you to buy prints. The photos that were taken from 2004 are capable of printing up to a 20" x 30" image (yeah, really).
Speaking of which, what kind of camera do you have?
Most of the pictures were shot using a Canon Digital Rebel. While it is a little bigger than a typical "point-and-shoot" camera, the results can be truly amazing.
If you would like more information about the Rebel, you can visit their website by clicking here.
Why do some of the photos have a copyright on them?
The copyright image that is on each of the photos basically says that they belong to me. If you choose to print them off, the copyright will be printed with it. Yes, there are ways around it - but why bother? If there is something that you want to get prints of, let me know!
Why does it seem to take so long to put pictures up?
Because I work a full-time (plus) job, and have another web development business that actually PAYS! Please be patient - it will get done! :)
Can I submit any photos to put on the website?
Absolutely. The more photos, the better. Please contact me and we can discuss the best way to send the photos.
Can I submit my video to put on the website?
Adding video to a website is a bit more "tedious" to do than adding photos. Not only are the files very large, video tends to not be as "entertaining" to people with slow Internet connections. However, if you have video that you feel has exceptional content (i.e. good races, great burnouts, police chases, bedroom scenes), please contact me and we can discuss how to get the video.
Another option is to put it on YouTube, then send me the information. YouTube allows you to embed the code in your website, but the video plays from their site. Pretty cool.
When I view the videos, they seem so slow and choppy. Why is that?
When it comes to streaming video on the Internet, several factors will determine how well you will see it from your computer. The main thing will be the speed of your Internet connection and the amount of traffic on the Internet at that given time. While the video is encoded for slower dial-up connections, it may still be slow to begin, and choppy once it has started. The best way around this would be to move to a city with high-speed Internet (i.e. Omaha)!!
This is a cool site. Who designed it?
The site was designed and developed by Promising Sites. I am the owner (Todd Richards) and grew up on the mean streets of Creston. I was also a frequent participant of the earlier Rod Runs with the infamous yellow Trans Am (aka "BOOMTOY"). Since the number of people participating in the Rod Run continues to grow, I thought it would be cool to create a single location for people to "re-live" the events.
I'm trying to find an email address for Todd. Where is it?
Due to the ruthless activities of spammmers, I have decided to remove my email address from the website completely. If you want to contact me, please use the form. After that, Todd will contact you back and you can have his email address then!
If you are really set on emailing me, you can use "todd at this website dot com". If you have trouble with that, then USE THE FORM!
What is in store for the future of "CrestonRodRun.com"?
Right now just adding more and more content. I would love to expand the gallery, so if you have photos of past Rod Runs (digital preferred), please contact me and we can discuss how to transfer any content to me.
In addition, I have thought about creating a section for individuals who want to show off their ride. Contact me if you are interested. If there is enough interest, I might do it.
If there is anything that you would like to see added to the site, please contact me. All suggestions will be considered! |
